Beyonce broke the record of Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti, who held the title for 26 years, when she won her 32nd Grammy at this year's ceremony.
Beyonce entered the night as the woman with the most Grammy wins in history. She was tied with producer Quincy Jones, who also has 28 wins, for the second most wins overall. She won her fourth award of the night, which was also her 32nd Grammy. This makes her the most Grammy-winning artist of all time.
The 41-year-old singer made history when her album Renaissance, which samples house music, won the award for best dance or electronic music album. This puts her one step ahead of Georg Solti, the Hungarian-British conductor who died in 1997.
The star said, "I'm trying not to get too emotional," as her husband Jay-Z stood and cheered her on. The singer thanked her late uncle, her parents, Jay-Z and her children for all the help they gave her. ? I'm just trying to take things in tonight. I want to thank God for making sure I was safe. Beyonce then thanked her Uncle Jonny, whose battle with HIV she said made her want to listen to dance music, which has always been popular in the LGBTQ community.
She has been nominated for 88 awards, the same number as her husband Jay-Z.
