Blaming me, others for Akufo-Addo’s recklessness laughable – Mahama

Fri, 21 Apr 2023 Source: Club Mate

Former President John Dramani Mahama has criticized the current government's tendency to blame others for the economic challenges faced by Ghana. According to him, despite being in office for almost four years, the government has failed to take responsibility for the country's economic problems.

The current government has often attributed Ghana's economic crisis to external factors such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the COVID-19 pandemic. In a bid to revive the economy, the government is seeking a $3 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

During a tour of the Greater Accra region, Mr. Mahama addressed delegates from Ayawaso Central and Ayawaso West Wougon constituencies. He expressed amusement at the government's habit of shifting the blame for economic woes to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He said it was laughable that, after being in power for seven years, the government still blamed him for the country's problems.

He added that the government seemed to enjoy blaming everything and everyone except themselves. They often said that the NDC made too much noise and that money did not like noise, but this was not the case. He encouraged the government to take responsibility for their actions and work towards resolving the economic challenges facing Ghana.
