As President Akufo-Addo visits the Volta Region to celebrate Ghana's independence, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, convener of #FixTheCountry, is urging locals to boo him.
On Monday 6 March, the President, officials from his government and other dignitaries are expected to fly into Ho, the capital of the Volta Region, for the 66th edition of the event.
The event is held in each of the country's regions on an alternating basis, and this year the Volta Region is hosting the event.
The annual celebration honours the sacrifices made by Ghana's founding fathers to free their country from colonial rule many years ago. But according to Barker-Vormawor, it is the ideal forum to express the anger and suffering of Ghanaians as a result of the Akufo-Addo-led National Patriotic Party government.
Over the past year, Ghanaians who disapprove of the economic crisis, poor management and corruption, among other things, that have characterised the current government, have booed both the president and his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, at various events. One such event took place in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region and the global hub of the ruling NPP, where the locals humiliated the president.
