Rightify Ghana is a non-profit organization based in Ghana that advocates for the rights of the LGBT+ community in Ghana.
Rightify Ghana condemned the behavior of a Ghanaian journalist and the host of the show Maakye on Onua TV.
The journalist is accused of using insulting and verbally abusive language towards the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. Rightify Ghana has labeled this behavior as unethical, misogynistic, and unprofessional.
Captain Smart, the journalist in question, made false and uninformed allegations against Kamala Harris during his live show. He accused the presidency of being senseless and declared that LGBTQ acceptance in Ghana would only happen over his dead body.
He also threatened to mobilize the youth against government ministers and referred to the President and Vice President in derogatory terms.
Captain Smart addressed Kamala Harris directly, calling her a "disgrace to womanhood" and making derogatory remarks about her birth. He also criticized the colors used to light up the Jubilee House during Harris' visit to Ghana.
Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, visited Ghana on March 26, 2023, as part of a state tour.
Rightify Ghana believes that the behavior of Captain Smart was unacceptable and has called for an end to the use of such abusive language towards public figures.
