Chief Files Defamation Suit Against Oyerepa Radio And Television

A chief from Kumasi has sued Oyerepa Radio and Television station and two other individuals for defamation, demanding GHC 2 million in damages according to a publication by GNA.

The plaintiff, Nana Antwi Fosuhene, who is a businessman and the Kyidomhene of Asem, Kumasi, has named Eunice Naa Amerley Nortey aka Auntie Naa, the host of "Oyerepa Afutuo" programme, Emelia Agyemang, the owner of Oyerepa FM and TV, and Queenly Lilian Amponsah, a former employee of his driving school, as the defendants.

According to the writ of summons filed at the commercial division of the Kumasi High Courts, the plaintiff claims that the defendants made derogatory statements about him on air and on social media platforms, which caused him emotional distress, humiliation and public ridicule.

The plaintiff is seeking compensatory, aggravated and exemplary damages of GHC 2 million from the defendants, as well as general and punitive damages for defamation.

He is also seeking a perpetual injunction to restrain the defendants and their agents from making any further defamatory remarks about him.

Additionally, he is seeking an order from the court to direct the defendants to retract their statements and apologize publicly on all media platforms.

The plaintiff is also seeking any other orders or reliefs that the court may deem necessary or just, including cost and solicitors' fees.
