Chilling account of how a father murdered his wife, 2 children and committed suicide

A father killed his wife and daughters before committing suicide.

Gary Stanton, 60, is accused of killing Mary Stanton, 49, and daughters Adrianna, 17, and Brianna, 11, before shooting himself.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office located the family's deaths in their Louisville home.

Mary's sister has spoken about her heartbreak since her passing.

"Mary was full of life, and this week, in especially, she was really hopeful about life," Mary's sister Emily Muchemi told WDRB.

"Nothing appeared off."

Mary opened an adult daycare after becoming a qualified nurse.

Adrianna, a high school senior, was excited to graduate.

The "clever" and "responsible" teen had a promising future.

The family was eager to return to Kenya this summer after burying Mary's father.

"We feel fairly sure that the incident is going to be a murder-suicide situation where the adult guy was a primary aggressor who shot the three females," Louisville Metro Police Major Micah Scheu said.

"When lives are lost and juveniles are involved, it's very difficult," he said.

Adrianna's high school commented, "We wish to offer our profound sympathies to the extended family and thank them for allowing us to join in Adrianna's life."

"I want our school community, the families, the students to know that we don't have all the answers, but we're here to help them with everything they need," Amber Jaggers, Brianna's former Assistant Principal, told WLKY.

Both schools have crisis teams and more counselors for students and employees.

The murders' motives are unknown.
