At least 22 people have been reported dead following a head-on collision between a Grand Bird bus and a vehicle at Kintampo-Babatokuma in the Bono East Region.
The accident occurred at midnight on 6 March 2023 and the victims were taken to the mortuary while the surviving drivers assisted with the investigation.
According to eyewitnesses, the Yendi-bound Grandbird bus with registration number AS 4635 - 22 was loaded from Kumasi but unfortunately collided with a truck with registration number GW 1127 - P after the truck veered out of its lane into the bus' lane to avoid colliding with another car parked on the road.
While others are receiving medical attention, 22 people were pronounced dead at the scene and have been taken to the Kintampo Government Hospital morgue.
Formal police investigation has been launched.
