Did Akufo-Addo Dodge LGBT Question Because Ghana Is Broke And Powerless During Kamala Harris Visit?

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received both criticism and praise from Ghanaians for his response to a question about the Anti-LGBT bill currently before Parliament.

The President was asked about the bill during a joint press conference with U.S.

While Harris expressed her support for the LGBT community, Akufo-Addo responded in a diplomatic and measured manner. He clarified that the bill has not yet been passed and that it is a private members bill, not an official legislation of his government.

He also pointed out that even if the bill is passed, he would need to sign it into law. Some Ghanaians have criticized him for his response, accusing him of "selling out" the country, while others have praised him for his leadership in handling such a sensitive issue.

A netizen in his opinion wrote: “See the way Akuffo Addo swerve the LGBTQ question in front of Kamala Harris! He say the Anti LGBTQ bill Ebi private ppl draft! U preside over a ppl of whom over 95% don’t support LGBTQ but u can’t be bold n say it coz u are broke n powerless! God help us!,”

Many commented on his post, with some supporting his opinion and debunking it.

Watch the video below and formulate your own thought whether he dodged the question or answered it as a leader should.
