The former President of Ghana, John Mahama, has once again been subjected to booing by hired individuals while on his campaign trail. These "boo boys" were reportedly hired by the Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, to monitor Mr. Mahama's campaign.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with voices heard booing Mr. Mahama as he visited the Dome Kwabenya Constituency with his campaign team.
The video shows a speaker introducing Mr. Mahama, and at that moment, the crowd gathered began to hoot at the former president.
According to reports, Chairman Wontumi had organized his boys to follow Mr. Mahama and "serve him a dose of his own medicine." This was in response to a similar incident where NDC's Sadick reportedly hired boys to hoot at President Akufo-Addo last year, and also when Vice President Bawumia visited the Volta region as a guest speaker for a festival.
Chairman Wontumi expressed that until Mr. Mahama apologizes to President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia, he should expect his boys to continue booing him.
The incident has sparked outrage among Ghanaians, with many calling for an end to such behavior during political campaigns. It is essential that all political parties and their supporters conduct themselves with decorum and respect for each other, as this is critical to maintaining peace and stability in the country.
