'Doggy style' linked to penis fracture?

Sun, 16 Apr 2023 Source: Club Mate

Penis fracture is not a joke, and there have been multiple cases around the world of men suffering from this kind of injury, usually from sexual activity. Several studies have indicated that one of the most dangerous positions to engage in is doggy style, and the reason behind this is because of the intensity of the thrusting involved.

Most penis fractures happen when the male partner is on top and thrusts too hard (or “hits the wall”) during intercourse. It’s believed that this happens because of the increased pressure and strain on the penis as it’s being forced against the walls of the vagina, which can lead to a corresponding break in the penis shaft. This kind of fracture is known as a buckle fracture because the penis shaft bends instead of breaking cleanly.

Back in 2017, a study published in the journal Urology revealed that doggy style was the most common position linked to penis fractures. The study also showed that out of the 40 men who suffered a penis fracture, 34 of them admitted to engaging in doggy style before the injury occurred.

The study concluded that the most important factors in penis fracture were “high level of energy and vigorous sex,” which suggests that men should be careful of the intensity of their sexual activity or even opt for a different position.

When it comes to penis fractures, men should always be aware of the risks and take precautions when engaging in certain activities. Not only is it important to have better communication with your partner about the level of intensity for each sexual position, but it’s also important to go slow and have a better understanding of your own body.

Additionally, it's also important to see a doctor if you experience any pain or discomfort during or after sex, as this could be a sign of a fracture or other injury.
