Drake, I Am The Owner Not Obrafour – Voice Behind ‘Killer Cut’ Alleges

Thu, 20 Apr 2023 Source: Club Mate

The situation regarding the copyright infringement lawsuit between Obrafuor and Drake has gotten more complicated. Mantse Aryeequaye, the voice behind the "killer cut" sound sampled in Obrafuor's "Oye Ohene" song, has come forward to claim intellectual ownership of the sound.

In a series of tweets, Mantse explained that he, not Obrafuor, owns the intellectual property rights to the sound.

Mantse directed his tweets at Drake, explaining that Obrafuor's lawyer is pursuing the matter solely in Obrafuor's name.

He confirmed that he has been trying to get Obrafuor to meet with his lawyers since Drake released the song, but Obrafuor has not responded. Mantse added that he is disappointed in Obrafuor's actions and threatened to reveal how Obrafuor has never paid for any of his works in the last 20 years.

Mantse firmly asserted his ownership of the intellectual property and requested that Drake consult with his lawyer before taking any steps regarding claims for compensation. He concluded by stating that Obrafuor cannot claim compensation for intellectual property that he also did not pay for.

Overall, it seems that the copyright infringement case between Obrafuor and Drake has become more complicated with Mantse Aryeequaye asserting his intellectual ownership of the "killer cut" sound sampled in Obrafuor's song.
