Following the recent decision of the Accra High Court in the defamation case between investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and politician Kennedy Agyapong, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, a former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, has issued a statement.
The High Court ordered Anas to pay Agyapong GHC50,000 in damages in lieu of dismissing the $25 million defamation suit Anas filed against Agyapong. Saani Daara applauded the decision, saying it served justice and exposed Anas as a dishonest, blackmailing journalist who distorted the facts.
Daara said: Wicked and evil people would not continue their misdeeds forever in an interview with GhanaWeb Sports. Justice would be done and it has been done today. Today, Anas Aremeyaw Anas' corruption has only been proven, verified and confirmed in the court of law and this is coming from the court.
The Ghanaian court has declared him a blackmailer. Evil and evildoers can't go on doing bad things forever. This man (Anas Aremeyaw Anas), whose method of operation is to twist things and not seek the truth, has been humiliated by the revelation of the truth, Mr Daara added.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former president of the Ghana Football Association, was humiliated in a documentary made by Anas in 2018. Agyapong dedicated his victory to Nyantakyi. The lawmaker also rejected the court's monetary award and admonished Anas to show more restraint.
