The 62-year-old played for Kotoko for 10 years and for Ghana several times from 1982 to 1992. Kwasi Appiah played for Kotoko in Ghana and Africa for 10 years.

In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the former defender said that someone gave him black magic to hide in his stockings during a league game against Great Olympics.

James Kwasi Appiah, who used to play for Ghana and is now a defender for Asante Kotoko, has talked about how he was given juju to put in his stockings before his first game for the Porcupine Warriors.

The man from Sunyani, who was the first Ghanaian coach to get his country into the FIFA World Cup, said he learned about juju when he joined Kotoko.

"When I played Prestia Mine Stars, I was always reading Psalm 92. But when I moved to Kotoko, I met people who told me about juju. Before I played my first game for the club, some people told me I couldn't play Kotoko with just my eyes. So they gave me something to put in my stockings. He told Dan Kwaku Yeboah, "Unfortunately, I hurt my leg, which is where I hid the juju."

Appiah went on to play for Kotoko for 10 years, becoming a well-known name for the Porcupine Warriors.

"Sometimes it became a club rule that we all had to do it," he said.
