Ex-policeman turned watchman passionately appeals to IGP over his 'wrongful' dismissal

A former policeman, now a security guard, makes an impassioned plea to the IGP over his 'unfair' dismissal.

The incident happened when he and some other policemen were transferred from their station in New Tafo Akyem to Bawku to maintain calm during the war.

"On 25 January 2010, we were preparing for our duty parade in Bawku. Because we were numerous that day and were supposed to form the parade at 5:30 pm, our divisional commander claimed that we were late and ordered us to perform a frog jump. We arrived there that day at 5.20 pm, but he still claimed that we were late and ordered us to do a frog jump.”

Sergeant Etornam claimed that when he disobeyed his superior, he was told to return to his post at Akyem Tafo.

According to the disgruntled ex-police officer, he received a signal in April 2010 to report to Navrongo Station for a duty call while he was in Akyem.

The 57-year-old Sergeant Etornam, who is married with six children, claims he was unfairly dismissed about 12 years ago and is pleading with the IGP to immediately look into his case so that he can be reinstated and receive his benefits.
