FBI Traces Killed Man’s Maserati to Ghana…Take Fingerprints

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has successfully traced a valuable Maserati vehicle, worth over two hundred thousand dollars, to Ghana. The car was linked to a tragic incident in the United States, where its owner was killed during a gunpoint robbery.

Collaborating with authorities in Ghana, the FBI obtained credible information about the car's presence in the country. The car thieves had managed to transport it to Ghana without alerting US security agencies, who swiftly intervened upon discovering the situation.

The primary objective of the FBI's operation in Ghana was to collect fingerprints and gather crucial leads that could help solve the murder and vehicle theft case. Working closely with Ghanaian security agencies, the FBI towed the car and conducted preliminary investigations before departing to continue their inquiries.

Compelling evidence confirmed that the stolen Maserati had been concealed in a shipping container alongside another luxury vehicle before being seized at the Tema Port. However, despite the intervention by security agencies, no one has come forward to claim ownership of the car, as no valid ownership documents have been provided.

In a separate development, the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) recently announced the freezing of 95 luxurious cars, which are currently in the possession of individuals and car dealerships. The EOCO directed the owners to report to their offices with the necessary documentation by May 3, 2023. Failure to comply could result in the confiscation of the vehicles in accordance with the law.

It is worth noting that the EOCO, in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the FBI, previously uncovered a vehicle theft syndicate in Ghana. The joint operation, conducted on December 9, 2022, led to the recovery of several luxury cars stolen from the United States and Canada. During the operation, 37 cars were retrieved from garages in Accra, and ten individuals were apprehended and subsequently released on bail after questioning.
