Family of cashier at Twumasiwaa Specialist Medical Centre accuses Mgt of murder

The family of Patience Quaye, a 32-year-old cashier at the Twumasiwaa General and Specialty Medical Hospital, invaded the building on Thursday demanding to know what had happened to their relative.

The family of the single mother of one, who worked at the factory in Otinshie, Adenta Municipality, went to the police on Wednesday to enquire about her whereabouts and discovered her body in a store room.

After arriving at the factory for her night shift on Monday 6 March 2023, Patience disappeared.

The body was discovered on Wednesday 8th March 2023 when the police helped break into the administration room where a foul smell was coming from after the family demanded to know where she was.

The position of the body when it was discovered suggested that she may have been strangled, according to the family.

As the decomposing body was found close to the facility's outpatient clinic and the Medical Director's office, the family believes foul play was involved.

The Chairman of the Adenta Municipal Assembly, who was at the scene when the police arrived and the body was found, described what happened to GHOne News.

“We were all there when the police officers arrived. Do you have a mortuary here, asked a CID woman who was passing by after smelling an odour. When I pointed out that this was the second time a security personnel had asked this question, they replied in the negative. When the CID officer asked them to open the door, I believe they could not find the key and instead called someone to break it down. Unexpectedly, they found the woman dead.”

Despite a strong smell emanating from the scene, the patients were still being treated, GHOne News' Evelyn Araba Aidoo was told at the time of going to press.
