Football Fans Want Argentina To Be Disqualified For Winning World Cup - See Why

Mon, 19 Dec 2022 Source: Club Mate

Fans of football say that Argentina's third goal against France shouldn't have counted, and that Les Bleus should be champions for a third time because of this.

In the 108th minute of the final at the Lusail Stadium, Lionel Messi scored his second goal to make it 3-2. He did this by bundling the ball over the line after Lautaro Martinez's shot was blocked by Hugo Lloris.

There was a thought that Martinez was on the field before the last defender, but replays showed that he was right there. Jules Kounde ran back to clear the ball, but it had already crossed the line.

The disagreement, on the other hand, wasn't there. Viewers noticed that some of Argentina's subs were already on the field before the ball crossed the line, so they think the goal shouldn't have counted.

Many people were surprised that VAR did not look more closely at the violation.

One person said, "Argentina's substitutes were on the field after the goal was scored. How did VAR miss that?"

A second person said, "I just looked at Argentina's third goal, and there were three subs on the field before the ball crossed the line." Shouldn't that be forbidden?"

A third person said, "There were two Argentina subs on the field when the ball crossed the line. Should it have counted?"

A fourth person said, "Argentina's subs are on the field before the ball goes in. Is this a rule violation?"

A fifth person said, "Argentina subs on the field before the ball was in the net?"

A sixth person said, "Before Messi's shot goes over the line. The subs for Argentina are already on the field. When he scored, there were 13 players on the field. If there had been VAR, this goal should not have counted."

IFAB's rules say that "the referee must disallow the goal if the extra person was a player, substitute, substituted player, sent-off player, or team official of the team that scored the goal; play is restarted with a direct free kick from the position of the extra person."

It then says, "If, after a goal has been scored and play has resumed, the referee realizes that an extra person was on the field of play when the goal was scored, the goal cannot be taken away."

In the last few minutes of extra time, Kylian Mbappe scored a second penalty after Gonzalo Montiel was called for handball and France tied the game.
