Former Central regional Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, expressed his preference to talk about Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia rather than former President John Mahama, stating the level of joy he gets from Buwamia according to a report by Wontumi Online. In an interview on Movement TV, Allotey Jacobs declined the opportunity to discuss Mahama and instead emphasized the importance of focusing on a competent politician like Bawumia.
Referring to his past friendship with Mahama, Allotey Jacobs stated, "I won't want to talk about Mahama. He was once a friend. I want to talk about Bawumia." He highlighted the need for Ghanaians to consider voting for a capable individual like Bawumia.
Having worked closely with Bawumia's father during the PNDC era when Allotey Jacobs served as Youth Organiser, he expressed his confidence in Bawumia's abilities. He noted the resemblance between Bawumia and his father, who, as a Northerner, served as Chairman for Cocobod and performed admirably in a region not known for cocoa cultivation. Allotey Jacobs drew parallels between the father's achievements and the son's potential, stating, "Like father like son, I know the son can do better like the father."
Allotey Jacobs' support for Bawumia stems from their previous working relationship and his belief that Bawumia possesses the necessary qualities to excel in politics. By highlighting Bawumia's familial background and drawing parallels to his father's success, Allotey Jacobs seeks to strengthen the case for Bawumia's competence.
