When workers at an Iowa funeral home unzipped a body bag, they were shocked to find that the "body" inside was still breathing.
According to the Des Moines Register, the 66-year-old Alzheimer's patient was pronounced dead at the Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Iowa on 3 January and taken to the Ankeny Funeral Home & Crematory.
There, staff saw her chest move and called 911. The hospital found her alive but unconscious, and she was transferred to hospice care. She died two days later. The nursing home has been fined $10,000 for the error.
