Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, is the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP, and he claims that extreme poverty in Britain forced him to send his children back home.
"There is too much misery in Britain. As I speak to you, I have brought them all to live in Ghana because it is now better than the UK," Chairman Wontumi said in an interview.
All his children, he said, are British citizens but he had to make this difficult choice.
He claimed that there was no place on earth free from adversity, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, which resulted in a shortage of western imports of agricultural supplies.
Chairman Wontumi made the remark while urging Ghanaians not to diminish the tranquil and comfortable lifestyle they are currently enjoying under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
"We plead with Ghanaians to understand that there is adversity everywhere. My children were born in the UK but as I speak to you, I have moved them all to Ghana to reside because Ghana is now better than the UK. In his interview, Chairman Wontumi emphasised.
"If we don't take care, the day will come when we will lose the place we are," he stressed in his warning to Ghanaians.
