Ghana Mourns the Loss of a Respected Public Servant

The final farewell for the late Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, former Member of Parliament (MP) of Tafo in the Ashanti region, took place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, and was a solemn event. The ceremony began with Dr Akoto Osei being laid in state at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, and his final resting place was at the Lashibi Funeral Home.

Many dignitaries attended the funeral to pay their respects to Dr Akoto Osei. Among them were President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former President John Kufour, and other prominent personalities. The presence of these notable figures indicates the high esteem in which Dr Akoto Osei was held.

The attendance of traditional authorities, MPs, and other officials at the funeral also shows the deep respect and admiration that Dr Akoto Osei commanded during his life. First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Second Lady Samira Bawumia were present to mourn with the family, as were Yaw Osafo Marfo, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, and former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen.

Alan Kyerematen shared some photos from the funeral on his Facebook page, which showed the emotional scenes of people paying their last respects to the late MP.

Dr Akoto Osei passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, after a short illness. His passing is a significant loss to the Ghanaian community, and his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire others for many years to come. May his soul rest in peace.
