Mon, 9 Jan 2023 Source: Club Mate

Hon. Joe Ghartey, who used to be Attorney General and Minister of Justice, has said that he has what it takes to be a good President of Ghana.

The MP for the Essikado-Ketan Constituency and former Minister of Railways Development says that he has done a good job in every public sector job he has had in the past.

He remembered that as Attorney-General, he had to deal with a lot of problems, such as fighting drugs, corruption, and court debts. He said that as Second Deputy Speaker, he got along well with people from both sides of the house. Hon. Ghartey said that at the time, Rt. Hon. Bagbin was the leader of the minority. He said that the biggest support he had gotten for his job was from the current Speaker, who said in the Chamber of Parliament, "I will be firm but fair, just like Hon. Joe Ghartey was when he was Deputy Speaker."

He also said that, in his opinion, developing the railway sector was one of the hardest things to do in the infrastructure sector, if not the hardest thing to do. He said that they can be sure that he did his best in that area as well.

Hon. Joe Ghartey was talking to the press as Ahanta West MP and Minister of Chieftancy and Religious Affairs Hon. Kojo Kum's thanksgiving service was going on at the Wesley Methodist Church in Agona Nkwanta. Hon. Kojo Kum set up the Thanksgiving Service to thank God for letting him get better after he was sick.

Hon. Ghartey used to be Parliament's second vice speaker.

He talked about why he decided to run for NPP flagbearer and said, "I have the experience, the skills, the humility, and the sense of duty and service to serve the people of Ghana."

Earlier, when speaking to the congregation, Joe Ghartey said, "If it is God's will, I will be President of Ghana," which got a lot of applause.
