A 37-year-old woman whose husband cut her with a machete has asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to do something about it.
Janet Donkor has deep cuts on her body where her husband is said to have used a machete.
She said that if it hadn't been for her neighbors calling the police at the right time, her husband would have killed her.
Janet said that her husband hurt her badly in many places, including her knee, head, stomach, tights, breast, waist, and hand.
It's not clear what could have made her husband do something so terrible.
"I was sleeping in the middle of the night when I felt a cut on my body. When I woke up, my husband was holding a cutlass and cutting me, telling me that I had to die today," she said.
Janet said that even though she was released from the Tamale Teaching Hospital, she is still looking for a safe place to stay because the Police are said to have let her husband go after he was arrested.
"A family member told us that the man was freed by the police after he paid them about GHS3,000," she said.
Madam Janet asked why the police haven't come to see her in the hospital to take her statement since the day of the incident.
Victoria Wajah, who is the victim's sister, is also worried that not much is being done to put the man in jail.
She asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, and other groups that work on Human Rights to help her sister get justice.

On Thursday, November 3, 2022, while Janet Donkor was sleeping, her husband killed her.
She was later taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital by ambulance, where she has been staying for almost three weeks.
Janet says that she got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. When she came back, she found that her husband had locked the door.
She said that when she saw that the door was locked, she knocked twice and asked her husband to open it. He didn't answer, so she kept knocking until he did.
Madam Janet said she went inside and laid down. In the middle of the night, she felt a sharp pain in her body. When she opened her eyes, she saw her husband holding a cutlass and threatening to kill her.
