Police officers in the US killed Tyre Nichols, which has made a lot of people angry. After footage of the killing came out, everyone with a voice condemned the killing.

The footage from the body cam was made public on Friday, January 27, 2022.

It shows that Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old FedEx driver, screamed "Mum, Mum" over and over as five police officers beat him up badly on January 7, 2023. Three days later, on January 10, he died from "severe beatings that caused extensive bleeding," according to the preliminary results of an autopsy. He also had a heart attack and his kidneys stopped working.

Memphis officials released four videos of his fatal arrest, which caused a lot of anger in the US because the officers can be heard bragging about the horrible attack.

One officer brags, "I was straight-up punching him, dog," while another says, "I'm going to beat the f*** out of him with a baton."

In other video, a police officer repeatedly punches Nichols in the head and body while two other officers hold him up. Several upper cuts rock his head back.

In another sickening video, one officer kicks Nichols hard in the head while two others hold him down on the ground.

In more disturbing scenes, Nichols calls out for his mother and says, "I didn't do anything," "I'm just trying to go home," and "Stop, I'm not doing anything."

But the beatings, which include pepper spray and tasers, keep going on.

On January 7 in Memphis, Tennessee, police pulled Nichols over for a traffic stop because they said he was driving recklessly.

After that, there were two fights with the police.

District Attorney Steve Mulroy said that in the first fight, pepper spray was used and Nichols was killed in the second.

He was taken away by ambulance in the end, but he died three days later.

Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn "CJ" Davis said that the beating could be even worse than the one that four white LAPD officers did to Rodney King in 1991.

Davis said on CNN: "I worked in law enforcement during the Rodney King incident, and this is a lot like what happened there. I'd say it's about the same, or maybe even worse."

Since then, second-degree murder charges have been brought against Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmit Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., and Justin Smith.

They were also charged with aggravated assault, official oppression, official misconduct, and aggravated kidnapping.

Mulroy said this about the five charged officers: "Each of the five people played a different role in the incident at hand, but the actions of all of them led to Tyre Nichols' death, and they are all to blame."

Last week, all of the officers lost their jobs.

After seeing the video of the attack, US President Joe Biden said, "Like so many others, I was outraged and deeply hurt to see the horrible video of the beating that led to Tyre Nichols' death."

He also said that the family of Nichols deserves a full, open, and quick investigation.
