Alex Tenge, a carpenter, is said to have killed his mother and grandfather at Okorase in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern region.
The suspect killed the grandfather, Tenge Sodzado, who was about 90 years old, cut him up, and then went after and killed the mother, Rita Agbabli Tenge, who was 40, in the yard of the house because she had called the police.
The thing happened around 11:30 p.m. on December 1, 2022, a Thursday. The suspect is said to have done the horrible crime after drinking Sobolo that had pee in it.
He is said to have told the police about it.
When someone went to the family's house, they saw the family members having a solemn meeting as they talked to people who cared about them.
The widower son of the old man who died, Francis Tenge, said that the whole family is very sad about what happened.
"I left my wife and father at home Thursday morning and went to my hometown. I got there at 9:30 at night. Then, my wife called to tell me that the suspect, Alex, had gone to a nearby house and tried to tie a girl's neck, so the girl's father was going to call the police. "Starr News," Francis Tenge said.
He went on to say, "I tried calling back to find out what was going on with the police case, but my wife didn't answer the phone. I found out later that my son Alex had killed my father and wife. I found it very hard, so I left the next day to go back home. Now I need help with my mental health, and I need your prayers and help. My son has never been that bad before. I have no idea what made him do that. I am told he informed police that someone gave him sobolo”.
An elder in the family, Kwasi Gboha, said that they are working with the police to find out more, and that the body will then be given to them to bury.
Rita Ababli Tenge had just come home from church the night she was killed in a horrible way.
Rita Tenge left behind two boys and two girls, the oldest of whom is now 14 and the youngest of whom is only 9 months old.
In the meantime, the suspect is in police custody and helping with the investigation. The bodies have been taken to the Eastern Regional Hospital morgue.
