On Friday, a police officer in Thika shot and killed herself at the Kiandutu police station.
The Commanding Officer said that Irene Wangari Migongo killed herself around 9:45 a.m.
Officer Peter Muigai Njoroge, who was in his house inside the station at the time, told his boss about what happened.
Njoroge told the OCS that he heard a loud noise coming from Migongo's house.
When they went to look for the body, they found it on the floor, face up.
Police said, "Next to her was the Steyr rifle that the officer was given as she was getting ready to go out on patrol today (Friday)."
Officers at the crime scene found that Migongo shot herself in the chest and died right away.
The gun, which had 19 rounds, was found and will be handled by the government.
Police haven't figured out what happened yet, but her coworkers say the woman who died never showed any signs of stress.
"The only thing she wrote on her phone status yesterday (Thursday) at 8:26 pm was "Because tomorrow may never be mine," with the song "Sweet bye bye" playing in the background," police said.
Since then, Migongo's body has been moved to the funeral home at Kenyatta University.
