How A Ghanaian Paid GH₵4000 And Sneaked Into A Cabin From Tema Port To Spain

Ben Yankson, a Ghanaian who lives in Spain, told everyone about how he stowed away from Ghana to Europe in a cabin on a ship leaving the Tema port.

Ben said in a chat on SVTV Africa that a friend told him that a ship could take him to Spain. Ben says that he paid GHs4000 for his cabin space.

"The security guards at the port know about the connections, so they will give you a boarding pass and let you on the ship. You can't get through the port, though. He told DJ Nyaami, "There are about five of us on the trip."

Mr. Yankson said that the ship stopped in a few different countries, and they could get off wherever they wanted.

"They told us that the ship will stop in Las Palmas, Belgium, and the UK. So you have to decide and pay the fee based on your destination unless they can’t get you off at a port for some reason,” he said.

Ben also said that they were arrested in Las Palmas and taken to Madrid to be checked out because the authorities didn't know how old he was.

"I had an x-ray that showed I was between 17 and 18 years old, but the judge didn't base his decision on that. They could not tell if I was underage or grown-up. In the end, a group paid for my education and everything else until I got my papers," he said.
