The Bauchi State Police Command is looking into rumors that ritualists in Kafin-Madaki, Ganjuwa Local Government Area, took the eye out of a 12-year-old boy.

In a statement released on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the command's spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident and said that the victim, Najib Hussaini, is an Almajiri from Kano state.

According to the PPRO, two unknown people on a motorcycle led the boy into the bush in a remote part of the village, took out his right eye, and left him there in a pool of blood.

The statement said, "The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command, CP Aminu Alhassan, has ordered a quiet investigation to find out why an unknown person pulled out the eye of a 12-year-old boy in Kafin-Madaki, Ganjuwa LGA, Bauchi."

"Najib Hussaini, who was 12, was from Kano state and went to Almajiranci in Kafin-Madaki. He had been in the state for less than a year when the incident happened on December 9, 2022, at 2:00 a.m. at Unguwar Yamma, not far from the victim's school (Tsangaya).

"It turned out that two unknown people on a motorcycle (Bajaj) tricked the victim into going with them to a nearby house so they could call a woman."

"They took the victim on their bike straight to a remote area near Hanyar Gonar Wakili in the same village. There, they stopped the bike near some bushes, forced the victim's right eye out, and then left him in his pool of blood.

"The victim made it to a place where some of his classmates saw him and rushed him to their teacher.

"The event was reported to the Ganjuwa Divisional Police Headquarters, where an investigation began in earnest. The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital in Bauchi" (ATBUTH).

"CP AMINU ALHASSAN, the Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State Command, asked people to always be aware of security and to report strange people and movements in their communities. He also promised that people who did bad things would be caught soon.
