How Robbers Seize Gold, GH¢876k Cash From A Pastor At Gun Point

Mon, 2 Jan 2023 Source: Club Mate

Kelvin Prince Boakye, aka Don King, who calls himself a National Security Operative and is 48 years old, and two other people who are on the run are accused of robbing Reverend Owusu Bonsu of GH876,000.

The same Kelvin was involved in a theft of GH2.7 million worth of gold from the Kotoka International Airport on November 28, 2022, which was written about in The Chronicle (KIA).

Kelvin and his accomplices are said to have used the same plan to rob Rev. Owusu Bonsu that they used to steal from Waahid Gold Company Limited, while threatening to hurt him.

So, Kelvin Prince Boakye was charged with plotting to commit a crime, in this case robbery, on Friday, December 30, 2022.

He said he wasn't guilty, so he was sent back to the police and told to come back to court on January 9, 2023, where Samuel Bright Acquah would be the judge.

Just the facts

Chief Inspector Isaac Anquandah, who works for the prosecution, said that Rev. Owusu Bonsu, the person who filed the complaint, was introduced to Moses Arthur and Robert Gyamesi, both of whom are still at large and who work for Don King, on September 12, 2022, as someone who could give King two kilograms of gold.

C/Insp. Anquandah said that Arthur and Gyamesi then took the complainant to Sewia Gold Refinery at Mile 7, Achimota-Accra, where the two kilograms of gold were looked at.

People say that Arthur and Gyamesi wouldn't take money for the gold in the refinery. Instead, they asked for the money to be given to them in the office of the complainant.

When the two groups moved about 30 meters away from the refinery, a Jaguar car with the license plate number GE 2472-15 crossed in front of them. Four men in the car pointed guns at the complainant and took the two kilograms of gold and GH876,000 in cash.

The prosecutor also told the court that during the investigation, it was found that Don King owns the Jaguar car that was used in the crime.

On December 23, 2022, Don King was arrested for a similar crime. When he was questioned, he said he used to own the car in question, but that he had sold it to Kwasi Boakye. Unfortunately, the court was told that the accused did not help the police catch the other person.
