In Apac District, Uganda, a pregnant woman who had malaria and had to stay in bed for five days was caught in the act by her husband having sex with a 24-year-old man.
The accused is said to have broken the law when he went into the women's ward at Apac Hospital.
After the woman had been in the hospital for five days, her husband, Mr. Alex Okuta, went to check on her and caught the suspect in the act.
The Apac District police commander, Mr. David Wills Ndaula, confirmed the incident on Thursday, January 12, 2023. He said that the person who did it was charged with making a public nuisance.
Ndaula told Daily Monitor that the police have started looking into what happened.
"We'd like to charge the suspect with being a public nuisance, but we're still looking into it and will let you know when we know more," he said.
Mr. Joseph Onuk, who runs Apac Hospital, felt bad about what happened because he thought it could have been avoided in the first place.
"I blame this woman's husband," he said. "How can you send your wife to the hospital and then not check on her for so long?" Some men always talk about how busy they are. He said, "Someone who is not busy will take your wife."
The woman's husband, who lives in Abwal "A" Village in Chegere Sub-county in Apac District, confirmed that his sick wife cheated on him.
"I went to the hospital on a whim to see how my wife was doing, and when I got there, I found that man in bed with my pregnant wife," he said, adding that his wife had been admitted because she had malaria.
