During a recent meeting between members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with the Ghana Police Service, Nana B, the National Organizer for the NPP, recited the opening prayer while Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the NDC, offered the closing prayer.
The meeting was aimed at discussing recent developments in politics and reducing political tension in the country, and was attended by representatives from both parties and the police.
Nana B praised the police for their invitation and shared that the police have established a National Election Security Taskforce Secretariat and a legal unit to monitor and analyze political statements made by politicians in the country.
Through the work of these units, the police have determined that a petition by the NPP to have former President Mahama and Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia arrested for "inciting" their members cannot be pursued. The same police analysis also clears Hon. Bryan Acheampong from the NDC's call to have him arrested over some recent comments he made.
Overall, the meeting was productive in promoting peaceful politics, and Nana B emphasized that simply disagreeing with someone's words does not make them a criminal.
