Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of parliament for North Tongu, compared in a Twitter what he has achieved with his donors compared to how much the government has spent on the National Cathedral.

He stated in his Tweet: What my donors and I achieved in establishing the John Evans Atta Mills Surgical Block with GHS2.5million versus what the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/Ofori-Atta government has achieved with GHS339million in building a cathedral.

Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member, opened a surgical block at a polyclinic in his district that was named after former president John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills.

On October 18, 2022, St. Anne's Polyclinic in Tagadzi Dorfor opened with all the tools it needs.

GhanaWeb was able to find out that the building was paid for by MANOS UNIDAS of Spain and was fully furnished and equipped by the lawmaker.

The amount of money that has been spent on building the National Cathedral so far has been a source of debate.

It is said that work on the project, which is expected to cost $340 million, has already stopped because there aren't enough funds. Workers have stopped doing things on the site.

“We have the contractors and their staff on site, but the work has been suspended. We are hoping that within the next couple of weeks, as part of our fundraising and other initiatives, we can begin work again,” Executive Director of the Cathedral, Dr Paul Opoku-Mensah stated on Tuesday, August 30.
