“I hit her with a pestle” - Suspect recounts how he murdered his Facebook girlfriend

The Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has caught a man named Edeh Tochukwu, who was 31 years old and killed his lover, Ijeoma Felix, who was 48 years old, on October 24, 2022, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Edeh told reporters on Tuesday, December 27 that he and Ijeoma met on Facebook two years ago and that their relationship grew to the point where he moved into her two-bedroom home in the FCT neighborhood of Lugbe.

He said that things got worse between them when she started to question everything he did.

"She was always angry whenever someone called me on the phone. I didn't know what to say. I can't talk more than five minutes at a time on the phone. She will choose to do wrong. She will be rude to me.

Edeh said that on October 24, he had a fight with the dead woman over a Highlander car she had given him but that he had sold without her permission. He says that the fight got violent.

"When I turned around, the fight about the car started all over again." At this point, she started to speak louder. She started being rude and all. She went to the living room and dropped her home theater on me, which I still defended. The second time, she came back with the pestle, but it wasn't on purpose because I was mad and all... I took it from her hands and pushed her with it. As she got closer, I accidentally hit her with the pestle. When she fell to the ground and started crying, he asked, "Why did I hit her?"

Edeh said that after hitting the woman, he took her Toyota Camry, her phone, and some other things from her house before leaving. He also said that he was arrested on November 2 after he changed the car's papers and sold the Camry for N1.7 million.

The victim's older sister also talked to reporters. She told them how she found out that her sister, Ijeoma Felix, had been killed in a brutal way on October 24 at her home.

She said that the caretaker of the building where her late sister's apartment was told her over the phone that Ijeoma hadn't been seen in days and might be very sick. She said that when she got to the house, there was a bad smell and she couldn't find her car.

She went to the Lugbe Police Station after hearing that a report had been made there. However, she was told to come back the next day because the investigating police officer (IPO) was not there.

"We went there the next day" (Lugbe Police Station). Then we could meet with the IPO. They already had plans in place for the environment (agency). Even when the environmental people came, we were at that police station. We all went to the building.

They went in and brought my sister out with her center rug wrapped around her. She was already stinky. That means that my sister was the source of the smell I picked up the day before. She had been there smelling for days. So, that's how we got her body to the Gwagwalada Hospital.

The car was missing. There wasn't a TV there. There were no phones. But you could see where they were charging. And they told me that the guy in question was the last person to come to her apartment on Monday, but they didn't see when he left and the car hadn't been there since he left," she said, adding that the family wants justice. "

She said to Channels TV

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the suspect was caught because Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba told them to find him and make sure they don't miss anything when dealing with criminals.

Adejobi said that the investigation is still going on and told people to be careful with what they do on social media.
