“I’m Glad The Lion Ate Him” - UFC Legend On Trophy Hunter

Sun, 29 Jan 2023 Source: Club Mate

Animal killing for game and food has been a point of contention for decades. There are so many opinions about the topic.

There are vegans who don't kill animals or use anything made from them, but there are also hunters who want to get rid of meat farms. There are still people who hunt for trophies, and there are people who will die to save animals and plants. A similar discussion happened on Twitter, where a former MMA superstar said what he thought about killing for meat.

Jake Shields shared a post in which the brother of the lion the trophy hunter killed for an Instagram photo said that the trophy hunter had been killed. Reports say it's interesting that Lion's brother got back at the hunter by killing him. Shields seemed to like the revenge, and he said what he thought about it.

Jake Shields, a former UFC champion, doesn't agree with trophy hunting.

Jake Shields's tweet made it clear that he doesn't agree with trophy hunting, especially when it comes to hunting endangered species.

In response, a user tweeted, "I believe in hunting, but not trophy hunting. I have family members who hunt, and we eat what they kill. No lions, though"

Jake Shields said something about the user's tweet. The boxer with a record of 31–9, who has fought in multiple promotions, agreed with the killing sports for food. He wrote on Twitter, "Killing for sport is wrong, but if you have to eat, it's a lot better than factory farms."

Shields' tweet could be taken into account, since people all over the world are calling for an end to all kinds of hunting in order to protect wildlife species. Even though vegetarian and vegan diets are becoming more popular around the world, there are still some people who believe that hunting for meat is healthy.

Conservation versus killing animals to eat

Joe Rogan, a UFC commentator and podcaster, is one person who believes that people should kill to eat. He is okay with hunting Elk for meat and agrees that it should be done.

Different celebrities all over the world have different ideas about hunting. After she wore a fake Lion's headdress to the Schiaparelli Couture show 2023, Kylie Jenner was criticized online. She was accused of promoting hunting and taxidermy of big game animals. PETA, an animal rights group, defended Kylie Jenner by saying that she and other celebrities only wore fake heads to raise awareness about big cats and did not break any animal rights laws by doing so.

Shields, a five-time MMA champion, seemed to be in favor of hunting for meat. However, he made it clear that he only liked hunting for food and not for trophies.

What do you think about hunting for prizes? Do you think it's better to hunt for meat on the range than to eat meat from a farm?
