Frank Greg-Quangrong, a Chinese man arrested in 2022 for stabbing his Nigerian lover, Ummukulsum Sani, to death in Kano state, told a Kano state High Court on January 11 that he spent over N60 million on her before killing her.
Frank, from Railway Quarters Kano, is on trial for stabbing Ms. Sani to death in September last year, a violation of Penal Code Section 221(b).
On January 11, Greg-Quangrong testified as a Muslim, international dealer, and marketer at BBY Textiles Kwari Market Kano. He informed the court that in June 2020, his deceased girlfriend received his phone number from her acquaintance and called to say she loved him and would marry him by God's help.
“She asked for money in July 2020 when we started dating. Love made me give her everything.
I deposited nearly N60 million into her bank account, including N18 million to establish a business, N4 million for a house, and N6 million for university.
"Her mom always greets me when I pick her up for supper at home," he stated.
He told the court that he was startled when she married someone else in February 2022.
I moved to Abuja after being devastated. She kept calling and Whatsapping me to demand money. Ummukulsum subsequently told me she was divorced, requested me to return, and promised to marry me again.
The distressed boyfriend said late Ummukulsum requested funds for her Abuja house project on September 13, 2022. He informed her he didn't have the money, and she got mad and stopped answering his calls.
“She felt I was broke, therefore I don't want to spend much money on her as before. He told the court, "She informed me she found a new love and afterwards posted her image with the new lover on my WhatsApp, which enraged me."
