Lydia Forson, a vocal social activist and actress from Ghana, says she doesn't consider herself a great actress.

Lydia Forson started her acting career about 18 years ago. The Ghanaian actress, writer and producer won the Best Actress in a Leading Role category at the 2010 African Movie Academy Awards.

The 38-year-old native of Mankessim is regarded as one of the most talented actresses of the modern era. She was born on 24 October 1984.

Although she has been in the film industry for almost 20 years, the outspoken actress told Citi TV to mark the day, "I feel like I am not there yet...

I feel like an emerging actress...

The years are still illogical to me.

The accomplished actress said when discussing some of the difficulties she faced on her way to fame: "I always say I am privileged, I come from a home where I have amazing support - as the youngest girl in my family... my cousins, most of them are male, so I really came into the industry from a place of privilege in how I saw myself. I thought that women could have it all.”

She made it clear that she never once thought of herself as different from other people, saying, "With my brothers, I knew they were men, I knew they were different, but I also knew we were equal, and I think people confuse the fight for equality - they think you want to be a man; no, I just want to be treated with equal respect.”

After starring in the award-winning 2009 film "Perfect Picture", Lydia Forson became a household name. A Message from Adam, SideChick Gang, Phone Swap, Scorned, A Sting in a Story and Borga are just some of the more traditional films she has appeared in.
