I still stand by ‘insulting’ comments made against Mahama  – Otiko Afisa  Djaba

Otiko Afisa Djaba, the former Minister of Gender, has maintained that she did not disrespect former President John Dramani Mahama during the campaign period according to a report by MyNewsGH.

In the report, she said that she raised important issues at that time and that she still believes in them regardless of how others who disagreed with her interpreted them.

On GTV, the ex-National Women Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) explained that having some relations with Gonjas does not mean they should have the same opinion.

John Mahama is my cousin and he is older than me, I’m very well brought up I will not disrespect him. The thing is that they think every Gonja should be backing John Mahama. I am not a Gonja like that…I am a Krobo. That is what they told me when I was contesting in Bole. It is okay for him to be where he is and for me to be where I am. His destiny is different from mine. We cannot all like Fufu or TZ, she responded to claims of disrespecting the former President

The campaigns that we went through, the issues that I raised were relevant at the time. When say something about somebody and others don’t accept, it is not a disrespect. That is how I feel and I still hold on to those things. It does not mean I was disrespecting him. People should go to the dictionary and understand the meaning of disrespect, she challenged.

President John Dramani Mahama in 2014 had promised to introduce a progressively free Senior High School (SHS) policy at a time then candidate Akufo-Addo promised a free SHS.

Reacting to the claims on XYZ Breakfast Show, Otiko said This President is not serious. He has embarrassed a lot of Northerners. He’s embarrassing mother Ghana, and the IMF is telling him that: ‘E no dey go well,’ so he should stop the `edey be k3k3′; put down his Dubai things and get down to the ground and give us the bread and butter things that we need for the development of this country.
