I studied Home Economics in SHS because I wanted an easy way out – MzVee

MzVee, a famous singer, said she studied Home Economics in Senior High School (SHS) because she was too lazy to do anything else.

She said she thought the course was the easiest way to get a second cycle education.

But once she got to St Mary's SHS, the DaaVi singer quickly realised that wasn't the case.

"I chose Home Economics because I didn't want to do much. I had no desire to learn. I learnt that it is one of the hardest things to do in real life. Because you spend so much time on the practical side that you don't have time to read your book.

"It was hard, and that's where I first learned that nothing in life is easy. It's hard to do anything. "It is hard if you want to be good at it," she told Joy Prime's Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning.

MzVee said she quickly lost interest in the classroom, but it was too late to change, so she did her best to get through school.

The dancehall and R&B singer said she would have taken a singing class in high school if it had been available.

"When I found out it was hard, I lost interest. I didn't want to do science or anything from the beginning because I thought it would be too stressful, so I chose home economics and I realised that was a mistake. She said: "It was very hard.

The 30-year-old musician also said she hadn't planned to go into the music business.

She said a friend from high school was the reason she joined the all-girl band D3 in 2012.

This was the start of her music career.

"It's surprising because I didn't plan to be a musician. I literally just stumbled into this good thing. I didn't go to producers myself. I started with a girl group called D3. The girl group was started by Samira Buhari. We both went to St Mary's SHS.

"She called me and said she wanted to form a girl group with me. She made me go to the studio even though I said no because my father is Ewe and he doesn't understand some of these things.”

"Richie heard my voice and liked it. That was the end of it. "I had no plans to be a singer," the singer said.

On 4 March 2023, in Whuti in the Volta Region, MzVee will collaborate with Reddington Chalets to hold an "Independence Concert".
