It’ll be difficult for my wife to bounce back – Yellow Sisi Waakye's husband

The husband of Yellow Sisi Special Waakye, a popular waakye place in Oyibi, is disappointed that his wife might not be able to go back to work after an alleged food poisoning incident that traumatized her.

On the condition that his face not be shown to the public, the traumatized husband told Citi News, "My wife can't do anything bad to her family or her customers because we always eat the same food."

"After eating the food, my wife, one of her salespeople, and my daughter all went to the hospital to get help. He said, "She will never do anything to hurt her customers.

After checking with hospitals in the area, the Foods and Drugs Authority said that 53 people were taken to the hospital and that one person was confirmed dead.

Citi News can confirm that the man who died owned the land where the popular waakye place, Bush Canteen at Oyibi, is located.

The dead man's wife said, "My husband ate the food on Friday, January 20, 2023. The next day, we rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later."

Yellow Sisi's husband said, "My wife did not succeed in getting the landlord to go to the hospital right away after what happened, no matter how hard she tried."

"The landlord's death is very sad. My wife tried everything to get him to go to the hospital, but he said no. My wife and I are saddened by his death, but all we can say is sorry," he said.

Some of the people who supposedly got sick from the food said that getting medical help quickly saved their lives.

Another victim, Emmanuel Boateng, said he used a mixture of palm oil and charcoal because the hospital beds at Valley View University were full.

"When I took the charcoal mixture, I threw up everything I had eaten. "I'm better now, but I don't think I'll ever buy cooked food from a restaurant again," he said.

After taking samples of the stew and shito, the police and FDA are now trying to figure out what happened and what should be done next.

Since then, the restaurant has been closed until further notice.

Yellow Sisi's husband says that it will be hard for the family to get by in the coming weeks because selling food is still their main source of income.
