Seven individuals have sustained injuries following a machete brawl in Twifo Abodom, located in the Central Region of Ghana.
The altercation is believed to have occurred when a young man attempted to take another individual's girlfriend during a wake-keeping ceremony.
The fight involved the youth of Twifo Abodom and those from Wassa Hemanso, located in the Wassa East District of the Western Region. An argument broke out between the two groups when the Twifo Abodom youth attended the wake-keeping event at Wassa Hemanso.
During the event, a Wassa Hemanso youth slapped a Twifo Abodom boy who was dancing with his girlfriend.
The victim returned to Twifo Abodom to report the assault to his town's youth, which resulted in a retaliatory attack by roughly 20 angry youth. The altercation involved the use of machetes, sticks, and stones. The Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Police Command intervened to restore peace between the two communities.
