In a fiercely contested race, Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe surpassed the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, who received 575 votes. Other aspirants in the primaries included Daniel Appiah, Dr. Karl Mark Arhina, and Elijah Jones Appiah.
