Kotwi ‘madman’ at it again, attacks churches, killing animals with impunity

An elder of the Church of Pentecost was attacked and stoned at a church meeting in Kotwi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region by the same mentally deranged man who burnt a little girl alive and left her to die a year ago.

On Sunday, the same person interrupted a service at an Assemblies of God church in the area by attacking members with a knife.

Residents said the culprit, Richard Asiedu, attacked churchgoers with a kitchen knife and threatened to kill anyone who attended the service.

Elder Bismarck, a victim of the attack, in an interview with OTEC News' Jacob Agyenim Boateng, claimed that he sustained several injuries as a result of the tragic incident on 5 March 2023.

"We have been living in constant fear for the past three years because of the deadly attacks by this individual," he said.

"I remember this same man setting a 25-year-old girl on fire on Sunday, January 16, 2022, burning two rooms after beating her with a pinch bar, ending up burning two bedrooms in the process," the witness said.

"He killed more than five dogs and several pregnant sheep. He has attacked dozens of households without warning, injuring almost all of them.

Elder Bismarck noted that all efforts to apprehend the culprit had been ineffective.

After receiving several complaints, the local police were only able to apprehend the suspect once, but he was released after allegedly causing a disturbance at the station.

To prevent further casualties, Elder Bismarck has appealed to local authorities to assist in removing Richard Asiedu from the area.
