Mahama era was the worst period in our history – Owusu Bempah

In a recent statement, Ernest Owusu-Bempah, a Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed his opinion that former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama embarrassed himself during his time in office.

According to Mr. Owusu-Bempah, Mahama was extremely disorganized in managing the country's economy and even broke the presidential code. He added that Mahama lacks the temperament, knowledge, steadiness, and honesty that Ghana needs in its leaders.

Mr. Owusu-Bempah also criticized Mahama's recent campaign to be elected as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He accused Mahama of using inferior tactics against the very office he is seeking to come back to. Additionally, he claimed that Mahama has demonstrated repeatedly that he stirs bigotry and ethnic-based political sentiments in ways that cannot be erased. He further accused Mahama of building his political campaign on appeals to bigotry and xenophobia, whipping up resentment against Ghana's democratic institutions and norms.

Mr. Owusu-Bempah stated that Ghana needs clarity, purpose, and competence, and not a man who offers only incompetence and angry defiance. He urged Ghanaians to resist the siren song of a dangerous demagogue, claiming that a second stint for Mahama at the presidency would be even more disastrous than the first one.
