According to private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, former president John Dramani Mahama would be a better fit for the presidency than Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Kpebu made this statement during an appearance on The Keypoints on TV3/3FM on April 15, where he discussed the current economic hardships in Ghana and the management capabilities of the current government and the past government led by Mr Mahama.
Kpebu explained that although some of the economic difficulties that occurred under Mahama's presidency were not intentionally created, the current government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, have deliberately orchestrated the current situation. He emphasized that Bawumia is part of the Akufo-Addo government, which is responsible for these issues.
Mahama served as President from 2012 to 2017, while Bawumia has served as Vice President since 2017. The two are expected to be the main candidates for their respective parties in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is likely to elect its former leader Mahama on May 13, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to elect its candidate in November, with Bawumia currently receiving significant support.
In summary, Kpebu believes that Mahama would make a better president than Bawumia, based on his assessment of their respective management capabilities and the current economic situation in Ghana.
