The police chief said that neighbors had to help put out the fire and stop it from spreading to other houses.

"On December 10, 2022, the family chose Mr. Kapanshya to go and cleanse the complainant, and they started living with the wife of the late brother. After a few days, he was told to leave the house because he had cleaned her up, but he refused because he wanted to keep living with his late brother's wife as if she were his own "Mulele said.

She also said that the widow wouldn't stay with him any longer because he had already washed her.

"She made him leave her home. When Mr. Kapanshya got angry, he told her he was going to kill himself or set fire to the house.

Customs Say That A Wife Can Inherit

On Sunday, September 27, 2020, TUKO reported that the Luo community's tradition of letting or rather requiring a widow's husband's cousins to inherit her property after her husband dies has been a hot topic of debate over the years.

Over time, people inside and outside of the community have both laughed at and supported the cultural practice. People on both sides of this seesaw have given reasons for why they feel the way they do about the cultural practice.

People who were against the cultural activity, which seems to be going away anyway, said that it spread cultural activities and caused family fights.

Those who think it was a good idea say it helped keep the family together and gave the orphans and widow a sense of belonging and money.
