A day after she withdrew a case against her husband for domestic abuse, a 33-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by him in South Africa.

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, Lindelani Nengovhela's body was discovered in a pit toilet in their yard in Mangodi Ha Sundou, Limpopo.

The pair was apparently in a stormy relationship and the wife had opened a complaint of domestic abuse against her husband and he was jailed.

Her husband, Livhuwani Madadzhe, commonly known as comedian SABC Livhu, was out on bail and due to appear again in Thohoyandou Magistrate"s Court next week but she went to court on Friday, January 27, and withdrew the charge.

Limpopo police spokeswoman said the husband aged 38, called the police on Saturday morning, reporting that he could not locate his wife but was startled to find her dead in the pit latrine in their yard.

"A preliminary probe undertaken by the police at the scene led to the arrest of the suspect on a charge of murder," Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo stated.

He was set to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Monday, January 30.

Limpopo provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe appealed to persons in problematic relationships not to resort to domestic violence.

"This is another another example of gender-based violence and femicide perpetrated against a vulnerable member of society. The woman evidently felt her husband would not again physically abuse her, but she is now no more. We advise community members suffering domestic issues to seek treatment and stop from resorting to violence," she stated.
