On November 8, detectives from the Homicide Section of the State CID Enugu, working with police officers from the Imo State Command, caught a man named Osuagwu Chidubem at Nekede Owerri.
He was trying to sell a Toyota Corolla car that he allegedly stole from his older female lover, Amarachi Chukwu, who was 32 years old. He is accused of killing Chukwu at her home in Meniru, Aw
DSP Daniel Ndukwe, a spokesman for the Enugu state police command, confirmed the arrest. He said that a police investigation showed that the suspect and his accomplice, who is still at large, had planned to steal the victim's Toyota Corolla key early in the morning of the date in question, but she stopped them.
"When she tried to fight back, they tied her hands, legs, and mouth with clothes, locked her in the house, and took the car."
Her decomposing body, on the other hand, was found in the apartment on November 4 after police officers from the Ikirike Police Division of the Command broke down the door after getting a report that a bad smell was coming from the apartment. The Operatives took the body to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was dead. The body was then put in the mortuary so that it could be kept and examined," Ndukwe said.
The police spokeswoman said that once the investigation was over, the suspect was taken to court and put in the custody of the Custodial Centre until the case was heard again.
