Puttawat Kamwan, 34, was discovered on a bed at his home in Thailand by his coworkers. He appeared to have died from an electric shock after dozing off while touching his charging phone.

A store employee is thought to have passed away from an electric shock while dozing off with his arm resting against a charging cell phone.

Puttawat Kamwan, 34, skipped his duty for three days, so concerned coworkers went to his apartment in Thailand's Samut Prakan province that evening on January 26.

And they discovered their pal on the bed, sprawled out and dying, his arm resting on the phone.

The charger and power cord are shown in the worker's bedroom on video close to his bed.

The police have launched an inquiry and summoned for emergency services.

22-year-old coworker Pantatip Kanthong said: "We are employed by a jeweler. He missed three days of work and didn't pick up his phone. We went to his room after work but discovered that it was open. Together with the landlord, we entered and located him."

Nattanit Hawharn, the building's owner, said Puttawat lived alone and was often quiet in his room, so she didn't suspect anything was wrong.

"He typically sat in silence, slept in his room, or drank beer out of cans after work. His door was open, as we could see. We assumed he was only ill, "She spoke.

According to the investigating police captain Pongnarin Nontanok of the Bang Phli police station, there are currently no indications of an assault or suspicious activities.

He stated: "On his bed, Puttawat Kamwan was still asleep. The charging phone was also at his right arm's reach. There was no evidence of an assault. He had been deceased for at least three days based on the available evidence. His bloated carcass filled the room with an awful odor."

Puttawat's arm was resting on the charging phone when he died, the police captain continued, and this may have been a result of a short circuit.

He explained that because the phone and charging wire were included in the original investigation reports, electrocution was assumed to be the cause of death.

An autopsy performed at the Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital in Bangkok "confirmed this."
