Man recounts how he almost slept with a male friend for GH¢7,200

A Nigerian man recently shared a personal experience on Twitter, recounting how he came close to engaging in a sexual act with a male friend for a sum of N300k when he was in desperate need of money. The incident took place in Akwa Ibom in 2021. According to the man, his friend made the proposition, promising to give him the money if he agreed to sleep with him. Initially hesitant and scared, he contemplated the idea and eventually considered going through with it. However, a pivotal moment occurred when he stumbled upon a Bible passage that made him reconsider his decision.

In his tweet, he wrote, "There's one story I always wanted to share... In this small Akwa Ibom, 2021, I was in dire need of money. It was really tough. I met my friend who had the means to help. He said I would have to engage in sexual activity with him for 300k. He even offered 15k just for a massage, as a starter..."

Initially, the idea was unsettling, but as he reflected on it with his LGBTKRQ mindset, he found himself rationalizing the situation and seeing less and less wrong with it. He wrestled with these thoughts for several days until he finally decided to go ahead with the arrangement. They set a date for a Monday, but on the Sunday before, while attending church, his mind was in turmoil.

Overwhelmed by the dilemma, he contemplated running away with the money, using protection to avoid any consequences, and believing that no one would ever find out. However, during his journey home on Monday, while on a coach, he randomly opened his Bible app and stumbled upon a passage in Hebrews, specifically Heb 12. The words resonated with him, and he couldn't shake them off throughout the day. Later in the afternoon, while walking alone, a voice in his head asked him, "Bob, are you worth N300k?" After a moment of reflection, he replied, "No, I'm worth more than that."

The voice persisted, asking, "So, you would engage in sexual activity for money, but what happens after the money is gone? Would you continue to exploit yourself for financial gain?" It was at that moment that he realized he was on the verge of becoming a "runs boy" with a touch of LGBTKRQ. Overwhelmed by this revelation, he immediately contacted his friend and informed him that he had changed his mind and no longer wanted to go through with it.

Naturally, his friend was curious about the sudden change of heart and inquired why. He simply replied that he didn't feel like it anymore. When asked about the money, he declined, stating that he no longer desired it. This decision angered his friend, and tensions arose between them. However, the story takes a positive turn as three other individuals offered to support him financially. One of them even sent him 100k just four days later. With their assistance, he was able to resolve his financial issues smoothly. Even to this day, these individuals continue to provide him with support, and he has spent over 300k, which was not his own money, since 2021.

Reflecting on his experience, he acknowledged that if he had given in to the temptation, he would have become a victim of circumstance, trapped by the allure of money and compromising his true self. He affirmed that no amount of money could ever make him engage in sexual activity with someone of the same gender. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of self-worth and staying true to oneself, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
