At Feyiase in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, an angry youth beat a suspected thief into submission.
He is accused of robbing locals of their money, cooking utensils and clothes.
One of the women he allegedly robbed screamed for help when the alleged thief stepped on her legs as he tried to tiptoe out of the room, and the angry locals are said to have tracked him down. He was taken into custody and allegedly assaulted.
He was reportedly stripped naked by the outraged locals before being attacked.
He was branded by the locals as a prolific robber who stole everything.
They also claimed that they used violence against him because they believe that if robbers are caught and handed over to the police, they are absolved of responsibility.
They've been stealing here recently, one man told Akoma News. This one was out of luck while others who came yesterday did not. He broke into about three rooms, grabbed phones and kitchen utensils, and unfortunately stepped on one of the women's feet, causing her to wake up and scream for help.
"The local police are asleep at the wheel. I even felt sorry for him and begged for him to be untied after seeing him in that position," said one victim. The less people talk about it, the better".
